Why Choose Unity?

Wisconsin's first and most experienced hospice program

NONPROFIT
Unity is the only locally owned and operated nonprofit hospice in the region. Nonprofit hospices have been shown to provide*:

  • wider range of services
  • higher staff to patient ratios
  • more professionalized staff
  • a more comprehensive grief support program
  • charity care

As a nonprofit organization, all of Unity’s income above expenses goes directly back into patient care to improve the wellbeing of those in our community.

MOST EXPERIENCED
Unity, the first hospice in Wisconsin and the third in the nation, has provided high quality, compassionate end-of-life care for over 38 years. Trust that our well established protocols and seasoned staff will exceed your expectations of care.

RAPID RESPONSE TIME
With primary nurses living in the communities they serve, as well as our partnerships with local pharmacies and businesses, patients are ensured prompt pain and symptom control.

JACK & ENGRID MENG HOSPICE RESIDENCE
Most patients prefer to spend their final months at home surrounded by loved ones. Unity prides itself in fulfilling these wishes. However, in the event that home hospice care is no longer the best option, Unity is equipped to provide highly skilled care at the area’s only 12 bed hospice facility that feels like home.

LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS ENSURE SEAMLESS CARE
Unity is the sole hospice provider in most area hospitals and contracts with both local nursing homes and assisted living facilities to ensure seamless care in all settings.

INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS
Unity is the only hospice in Northeast Wisconsin and one of only 140 nationwide selected to participate in Care Choices which allows qualifying Medicare patients to receive life sustaining treatment and supportive hospice care concurrently. For those not eligible, Unity also offers Treatment Plus, the region’s first palliative program focused on optimizing quality of life and reducing hospitalizations through advanced disease management by a dedicated team of experts.

COMMUNITY GRIEF PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN
For kids, navigating through the grieving process after the loss of a loved one can be especially difficult. Generations, Unity’s community grief program designed for grieving families with children and teens, offers a supportive and safe place for healing.
