Reimbursement for Hospice Patient Care

A common misconception held by many attending providers is that they lose out on Medicare reimbursements when their patient is admitted to a hospice program.  This is not true.  Medicare reimburses physicians and nurse practitioners for qualified time spent overseeing the care of patients receiving hospice services. Medicare also reimburses providers for care provided for a patient's health conditions that are not related to their hospice diagnosis.
