Volunteer FAQs

We hope the following information will help you in your decision to become a Unity volunteer. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 920-338-1111 or 800-990-9249 or click here to submit your question online.

Q: Is there a minimum amount of hours I will be required to volunteer?
We ask that you volunteer a minimum of 12 hours a year.  Volunteer opportunities are available for whatever time commitment you are willing to give, and our Volunteer Coordinators can help you identify a role that would fit best with your schedule.

Q: What type of training is provided?
Unity provides classroom orientation, informational resources and team interaction with our staff to ensure all volunteers feel adequately prepared for their volunteer role.

Q: I don't have health care experience.  Can I still volunteer?
Yes! Training consists of classroom-style orientation followed by role-specific “on-the-job” education.

Q: Will I ever be asked to volunteer for a task that would make me uncomfortable?
No. You decide how you want to be involved as a volunteer.  We will never ask you to do anything you do not want to do, and you can always say "no" to any volunteer opportunity that does not interest you.

Q: What are the requirements of being a volunteer?
Unity has opportunities available for all ages.  All volunteers must complete an application, brief phone interview, background check and volunteer orientation. A Volunteer Coordinator will help match you to the opportunity that best suits your interest.

Q: Where are volunteers needed?
Unity needs volunteers throughout our 13-county service area in Northeast Wisconsin. Click here to view Unity's service area.

Q: How can I get started?
