Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are vital members of Unity’s team serving as ambassadors of our organization. Whether it’s providing companionship to a person in the final months of life, assisting with special projects in our administrative office or helping with community outreach, the contribution of volunteers are essential to our mission. Care Volunteers

Companion Visitor for Patients Residing in Private Homes, Facilities or Hospitals​

  • Provide companionship
  • Visits typically last 1 to 3 hours
  • A family caregiver may or may not be present

Jack and Engrid Meng Hospice Residence​

  • Greet and direct visitors
  • Provide companionship for patients
  • Assist with meal preparations
  • Visit patients with your certified pet

Medication Delivery Driver​

  • Deliver meds to patients

Spiritual Enrichment​

  • Collaborate with Unity chaplains to support the patient and family on their spiritual journey

Telephone Support​

  • Call patients or families to ensure needs are being met

Grief Group Co-Facilitator​

  • Co-facilitate grief support groups with Unity Grief Counselors

Music Enrichment​

  • Sing or play a musical instrument for patients or special events

Patient Transport​

  • Transport patients to and from necessary appointments

Vigil​

  • Provide comfort and support to patients and families during life’s final hours

Cosmetologist/Barber​​

  • Provide haircuts to hospice patients

Administrative Volunteers​

Office

  • Greet visitors
  • Perform data entry
  • Assemble informational packets
  • File patient paperwork
  • Complete Microsoft Word and Excel projects
  • Assist with fundraising initiatives

Creative Project & Community Outreach Volunteers​

Filled With Love​

  • Sew keepsake bears and pillows from the garments of patients

Prayer Shawl Ministry​

  • Knit or crochet shawls and lap blankets for patients

Campus Gardener​

  • Tend to perennial and annual gardens
  • Maintain shrubs
  • Mow lawn

Special Events​

  • Participate in memorial and fundraising events
  • Represent Unity as health fairs, expos or speaking engagements
  • Photograph or video record special events

Unity Resale Shoppe, LLC Volunteers​

  • Help provide a meaningful place for family members to part with loved one’s belongings
  • Choose from a variety of roles to create a welcoming, organized and fully stocked shop
  • Revenue ensures everyone, regardless of ability to pay, has access to Unity care
